Intern (f/m/d) Outdooractive Research

At Outdooractive Research, you will gain exciting insights into the diverse research projects, innovations and networking activities as part of your compulsory internship (Bachelor/Master). Outdooractive Research creates an inspiring environment for technological and data-driven innovations in the field of outdoor tourism in order to develop and implement knowledge-based solutions based on the pillars of ecological, social and economic sustainability for the common good. To this end, the department works closely with partners from the tourism industry, science and academia, NGOs and associations, as well as destinations and protected areas. Together, research projects are initiated and implemented and innovative technologies and applications for regenerative, inspiring and health-promoting outdoor experiences are developed.

Your Training at Outdooractive

  • You will actively support ongoing funding projects in the areas of sustainable mobility, promotion of structurally weak destinations, nature conservation and conflict prevention in outdoor sports and/or data- and AI-based visitor guidance.
  • In this context, you will independently take on task packages, research or implementation, depending on your interests and areas of expertise.
  • It is possible to carry out your own focal project or research as part of ongoing activities, also with regard to term papers or final theses.
  • You will write content for the communication of project content, results and research activities to the outside world and within the company.
  • You will support the Outdooractive Research partner network.
  • You will be actively involved in applying for funding for research and innovation projects.
  • During your internship, you will be supervised by experienced researchers and project managers.
  • You can work either in our office in Immenstadt im Allgäu or remotely.

What Outdooractive expects from you

  • You are currently studying (Bachelor/Master) and would like to complete a compulsory internship in the fields of tourism, sport, geography, sustainable management or related subject areas.
  • You are passionate about sustainability and the responsible development of tourism and outdoor sports.
  • You have a solid grounding in scientific methods and are interested in current discourses in sports and tourism research.
  • You have a confident writing style and a precise way of expressing yourself in German and English.
  • You can work independently, communicate your needs clearly, are reliable and are motivated to tackle new topics and challenges.
  • Other skills and individual strengths are very welcome and can be incorporated into the internship, for example in the areas of video production, graphic design, web design, coding and AI, workshop methods, (landscape) ecology, pedagogy, inclusion, etc.
