The Task

Macs Adventure, based in Glasgow, is an international tour operator, specialized in self-guided walking and cycling trips. People can go on discovery tours all over the world individually and flexibly without having to dispense with the service of a professional provider.

Macs Adventure was looking for a solution completing several tasks in the course of the customer journey. A solution which enables it to gain new customers as well as to prepare existing customers for their tour and to accompany them on their journey in the best possible way.

Our solution

All Outdooractive products are based on a common database. The great advantage: Regardless of whether they answer the purpose of information and booking or the purpose of experience and safety during the journey – all contents have to be maintained only once. Adapted to the purpose and channel of communication, they are presented accordingly.

For Macs Adventure, a central portal for itineraries and sights was set up: an Outdooractive Regio. This is the place where all one-day and/or multi-day tours including the individual stages, turn-by-turn directions, elevation profile and map, information about accommodations, sights, interesting facts about the region and tips on the right equipment are gathered. This way, it is possible to display everything that Macs Adventure’s customers need for their individual tours in digital form and in one single place. Each customer in turn can be provided individually with tailored information in order to make the vacation an authentic and also comfortable experience.

Macs Adventure

Of course, the tour descriptions and maps are also available for mobile use via the Macs Adventure App. It is the perfect digital travelling companion and a personal tour guide. No matter where Macs Adventure’s customers are travelling, they always have offline access to maps and descriptions so that they are able to navigate safely to the next stage along their journey.

Due to the fact that the offers and contents of Macs Adventure part of the Outdooractive platform as well, they will reach the whole Outdooractive Community and thus an extended, interested target group. The platform becomes a multiplier which enables Macs Adventure to benefit from additional reach and increased visibility.

The Task

HUBERTUS Alpin Lodge & Spa in Balderschwang ranks among the leading wellness hotels in the Alpine region. Guests can enjoy plenty of space for their individual wishes. Apart from that, outdoor activities and ties with the region are important elements of the HUBERTUS philosophy. In order to share this lifestyle with their guests, a possibility to prepare the most beautiful places and tours was searched. At the same time, it should be possible to integrate these tours in different ways into different communication media (website, NL, printed products, etc.).

Our solution

Using the Outdooractive Business, the team of the Hotel HUBERTUS can create their own tours customized for their guests. FlexView permits seamless embedding of the tours into the website of the hotel. Thus, the HUBERTUS can create and publish individual content while it is also possible to import selected tours from other authors such as Naturpark Nagelfluhkette e.V. from the Outdooractive platform into the website.

Our solutions for destinations

Destinations are confronted with the challenge of making the digitization to one of their core competences. They have to establish a network of service providers and all offers as well as infrastructure needs to be digitized. Only then the guest can be accompanied along the whole customer journey. Outdooractive is a strong partner in developing an integrated digital strategy. For its realization we provide the respective sustainable solutions.

The Task

Smaller destinations are facing a tough job, if they want to manage the task of digitization on their own. Therefore Graubünden Ferien, the marketing organisation of Graubünden, is on the mission to ensure that all 17 member destinations are prepared for the digital age. It was about a solution which brings the content of all destinations together, which is able to take care of a comprehensive content presentation as well as the distribution.

Our solution

The Outdooractive Business brings together all content of the partners related to tourism and outdoor. In the case of Graubünden Ferien there are 1200 tours and more than 12’000 points of interest (POIs) such as attractions, accommodation and huts. The Outdooractive API was used in order to import content into the different channels of Graubünden Ferien and into the channels of the partners. Furthermore, the API allows a contextual distribution throughout the different landing pages and offers maximum flexibility in regards to structure and design, also taking individual corporate designs into account.

Outdooractive develops maps specifically designed for the use outdoors. Intuitively comprehensive products emerge from complex geographical data for the reliable navigation – with or without WiFi. Across the world routes are categorized according to activity so tours and offers can be individually edited for the respective target groups, such as mountain bikers or hikers. Altitude lines, rock structures, woodlands etc. are displayed topographically exact and make the orientation as easy as possible.

 

A map is still the most important companion for discovering a region, both in digital and printed form. The Location-Based Story is a very special way of storytelling. It takes the outdoor-enthusiastic users on a journey and inspires them to discover a destination on the spot. A prerequisite for the Location-based Story is a concrete reference to a region and its natural and cultural landscape. The settings, sights and the respective tours merge to an interactive story with the help of texts, images and the georeferenced localization on the Outdooractive Map. If available and contextually suitable, videos also become part of the story.

For creating a Location-based Story the already existing contents in the platform are complemented by information and photo material provided by the customer. We will take on the rest from here and profoundly edit the story and adapt it to the target audience.
