Storm damage in Trentino displayed on the Outdooractive Platform
At the end of October 2018, a devastating storm hit northern Italy. In addition to floods, mudslides and twisted electricity pylons, the storm caused extensive damage to forests, which is expected to take several months to years to repair. Many hiking trails are affected and will be closed for a long time until the damage is gradually repaired.
Digital visitor guidance
In order to inform outdoor tourists, the province of Trentino (Autonomous Province of Trento) has mapped the damage and is now digitally entering it, via the Outdooractive DMS, in the Outdooractive Platform as blockages and closures. The information from the Outdooractive Platform is accessed by more than 10 million people each month on more than 3,000 digital channels (websites and apps). The information is always up to date and guests can find out right away whether the planned route is feasible or where the damage has not yet been repaired.
