A better overview and greater control of closures on the Outdooractive Platform

The categories ‘Notices’ and ‘Closures’ make it easier to communicate current updates to guests and others in the region. Now this helpful feature has been optimized and refined to provide even more accurate information and greater control in respect of affected areas.

Affected routes are automatically closed

Until now, outdooractive.com’s ‘Notices’ and ‘Closures’ (under the tab ‘Current Information’) were displayed or marked individually on the map. In order to provide guests with information even faster, the status of affected routes will now be automatically set to red and thus indicated as “closed”. Routes that pass through or touch an area with restrictions in place will be affected. More detailed information can then be viewed under the ‘Current Information’ tab.  Routes will have their status set to open again when the closure has ended and the area is once again accessible. This is done in three ways: either a predefined period of closure ends, a blockage that caused the closure is manually removed or the route itself is manually reopened.  This forms the second update on Outdooractive.com

Members with DMS access can open and close tours

Not all routes that pass through an area with restrictions in place are equally affected. The result of this is that routes that are, in fact, completely accessible, but pass through the area of a closure (even partially) end up being locked. In order to counter this problem, customers with access to Outdooractive’s DMS have the ability to manually override this automatic closure of the routes. By going to the closed routes under the ‘Details’ tabs on DMS, users can choose to ‘Ignore’ the automatic locking command.

Only DMS users will be notified by email should one of their published routes be closed.

The distinction between ‘Current Information‘, ‘Notices’ and ‘Closures‘

In the case of a general input, it is displayed on the map.

When input as content, the condition is also displayed in ‘Current Information’.

Routes that pass through or touch an area with restrictions in place will be set to ‘closed’

Example ‘Snow blows in from the meadow below. Extremely slippery and smooth.’ ‘Heilbronn Weg: Rock Fall has made access extremely challenging’ ‘Pähler Schlucht closed until further notice due to flood damage’

For ‘Notices’ and ‘Closures’ to properly function the data and information has to be up-to-date and regular. The feature is of benefit to destinations and regions as they can more easily inform guests of hazards.
