New Release: The Outdooractive Audio Guide

Experience the Outdooractive Audio Guide: a brand-new mobile feature that offers destinations visitor guidance capabilities through immersive audio storytelling.

With the launch of the new feature, destinations can now create fully personalized audio files linked with points of interest that are directly playable on the Outdooractive mobile map.

The Outdooractive Audio Guide encourages users to explore at their own pace freely and learn more about their surroundings. Optional GPS tracking and route navigation mode allow for automatic playing as users move through their environment.

Whether traveling by train, bus, bike, or on foot, users can let the story guide them without losing their way in this hands-free experience.

For destinations, branded audio tours can be created grouping together the most-loved highlights or guiding guests away from high-traffic hotspots. Potential visitors can also browse the destination’s audio POIs and play them directly from the map as they plan for future trips.

One Audio Guide pilot customer, Graubünden, has already started to create their own content and share captivating stories and local legends.

“The audio guide as an acoustic hiking guide enriches the versatile hiking offer in Graubünden. Guests not only enjoy the Grisons mountains on the audio guide tours, but also learn exciting stories about sights and the region individually along the way. An added value for the entire hiking experience. Audio formats are also a promising trend in tourism with interesting possibilities for further development. Graubünden has recognized this as a pilot destination for Outdooractive and has already set over 180 experience points on hiking and long-distance hiking routes to music in the audio guide.” Martin Vincenz, CEO at Graubünden Ferien.

“As the vacation canton of Graubünden, we want to provide guests with high-quality additional information worth knowing about nature, culture and history during their outdoor experience or during the inspiration phase,” added Patric Collet, project manager at graubündenHIKE / Initiator Outdoor Audioguide. “Thanks to this storytelling, Graubünden should become even closer and ‘come to life’ for the guest.”

How to access the Audio Guide and upload content:
The Audio Guide is a free and easy-to-use feature for all Outdooractive users on the app and mobile web version. It can be accessed in the Map View of the app by tapping on the green 3 dot menu on the lower right of the screen.

Destinations can easily upload their recorded audio files directly to their desktop business account. The preferred audio format is MP3 with a 192Kbps or 320kbps bit rate.
