Recent company growth propels international development in overtourism solutions

Outdooractive is pleased to announce the addition of 15 new team members this month, joining the headquarters office in Bavaria, Germany.

As part of an ambitious growth strategy, Outdooractive has filled over 40 new job openings so far this year, strengthening all departments and expanding services. With these newly-filled positions, Outdooractive grows its workforce to 170 employees, coming from more than 30 countries, and working in offices and subsidiaries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Seven additional recruits are expected to join the team this November.

„The variety of nationalities and cultures we have in our company enriches each one of us,” said Annette Wimmer, CFO and Recruiting Manager. “As our office becomes more and more international, each team member adds value and a fresh perspective which, in turn, inspires even better collaboration and innovation.”

While in-person training for new starters has been currently impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic, internal introductory programs have transitioned to 100% digital through video conferences and remote-coaching.

As the tourism industry continues to face challenges amid the COVID-19 pandemic, stakeholders around the world have experienced a post-lockdown shift to adventure and outdoor domestic tourism. In response, Outdooractive is focusing to provide even more data-driven assistance in visitor guidance as well as helping destinations with solutions in overtourism and mass-crowd avoidance.

“There is a need on both sides for our digital services,” said Outdooractive Founder and CEO Hartmut Wimmer. “Users need more digital information to explore nature instead of overcrowded cities while destinations need to inform visitors before they drive two hours on a Sunday morning to an overcrowded place.”
